Crime Report: Thieves Take Stolen Car for a Joyride

Also, credit card fraud and shoplifting.

Three men were arrested and charged with grand larceny after stealing a car in Fairfax City and taking it for a joyride around the parking lot of a former school.

At 10:32 p.m. on June 2, Fairfax City police officers responded to a report of a vehicle being driven onto the former Westmore Elementary School property and being "operated recklessly." 

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the vehicle abandoned. It was determined to have been reported stolen earlier in the City of Fairfax. 

Officers searched the area and subsequently located three male subjects. Upon further investigation they were taken into custody and transported to the Adult Detention Center. 

One suspect was an 18-year-old Chantilly man; one suspect was an 18-year-old Sterling man; one suspect was a 20-year-old Fairfax man. Each were each charged with grand larceny, and the bond for each was set at $2,500.

The following additional incidents were also reported by the Fairfax City Police Department, between June 3-6, 2013. Where arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

June 3 - Credit Card Fraud: At 12:55 p.m. a resident of the 4100 block of Lexington Court reported that, on May 28, an unknown person or persons had used his credit card to make unauthorized purchases on the Internet.

June 3 - Theft from Business: At 8:58 a.m. an employee of the Mosby Deli and Market at 10560 Main St. reported that, sometime between 4 p.m. the day before and 7 a.m. that morning, an unknown person or persons had gained entry into the storeroom and stolen assorted food products.

June 4 - Shoplifting Arrest: At 11:48 a.m., employees of the Home Depot at 3201 Old Lee Hwy. reported that they had observed two subjects concealing merchandise and attempting to leave the store without paying for it, at which point they were detained. A 50-year-old woman and 26-year-old man, both of Fairfax, were charged with concealment of merchandise and released on summonses.

June 6 - Credit Card Fraud: At 12:58 p.m. a California resident called police to report that, between June 3 and June 5, an unknown person or persons had used his credit card number to make unauthorized purchases at the Shoppers Warehouse at 9622 Main St., as well as one other business within the City of Fairfax.
