City of Fairfax Police to Offer ID Kits for Kids Saturday

The free kits include photos, fingerprints, vital information and descriptions and more that police can use if a child goes missing.

The City of Fairfax Police Department, in conjunction with the Optimist Club of Fairfax, will be offering Safe Assured identification kits for children on Saturday. 

Parents will receive a full-color photo ID and a mini-CD that contains digital fingerprints, a digital photo, video showing movement and mannerisms, a general physical description, vital personal information, and a family code word.

City of Fairfax Police say that private information is encrypted and can be accessed only by law enforcement personnel. Missing person posters can be created and printed directly from the CD in English, Spanish and French. 

The ID kits are free, but an appointment is required. Appointments may be made by calling Sergeant Kyle Penman at 703-273-2889.

The kits will be offered Saturday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at City of Fairfax Police Headquarters, 3730 Old Lee Highway, Fairfax.
