City of Fairfax Police Building Damaged in Hit and Run

A Spotsylvania man was arrested and charged with multiple offenses Thursday after he allegedly drove into the garage of the City of Fairfax Police Headquarters, causing an estimated $10,000 in damage.

Anthony John Skrobacz, 49, of Spotsylvania, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and reckless driving, and hit and run.

City of Fairfax Police Sgt. Joe Johnson said in a release Thursday the driver of a 1999 Mercury Marquis drove onto the driveway of the headquarters building, at 3730 Old Lee Highway, at about 2 a.m. Thursday.

He "proceeded to drive through the lowered door of the garage/processing area and then leave the scene," Johnson wrote in the release.

The damage to the processing area doors was "considerable," but the contents of the building were spared in the accident. Damage estimates are currently at $10,000, according to police.

Shortly thereafter, police responded to an accident at University Drive and Willard Way, where they found the car stopped on top of a median in a private parking lot.

Officers determined the driver of the Mercury was the same man that left the scene at police headquarters.

Skrobacz is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. His bond is set at $5,000.
