Letter to the Editor: 11th District Needs 'Responsiveness and Leadership'

Fairfax City reader urges neighbors to vote for Chris Perkins (R) on Nov. 6.

To the editor:

In Response to Gerry Connolly for his comment that veterans and career-first officers, including Colonel Perkins, do not have the "sweat equity" needed to hold federal office. Gerry Connolly, a lawyer who doesn't legislate because Nancy says read Obama Care after it is passed. Connolly also say Yes when Nancy and Harry want more Tax Revenues from the 53% who pay taxes, and Yes to Harry and Obama when the Far Left want devastating cuts to our national defense capabilities and increasing unemployment in private and public sectors.  Gerry Connolly's "sweat equity" is take money from tax payers and give it away in order to keep the very large size chairs he needs.

Gerry Connolly is hell-bent on cutting the military and economic capabilities needed to protect Americans at Home and Abroad and increasing unemployment in the private sector. The provisions of this budget sequestration legislation include:

  • Over 100,000 soldiers, sailors, Marines, and airmen, many of whom are just returning from multiple combat tours Laid-off
  • Ground forces Reduced to pre-1940 levels
  • Naval forces Reduced to pre-1915 levels
  • Tactical air fighter forces Reduced to the lowest level in the history of the U.S. Air Force.

Congressional Representatives should fight to stop the coming demoralizing blow to local and nation-wide economic goods and services production and distribution systems and our national security! BUT, as in the past, Gerry Connolly follows his Democrat leaders who support devastating cuts to our national defense capabilities and increasing unemployment in private and public sectors.

The Virginia 11th District needs responsiveness and leadership on economic, security, education and entitlement budget, program planning and cost-effective implementation   Fellow Virginians Vote for Chris Perkins for responsiveness, government stewardship, and a better and brighter future for you and your family!

The sequestration proposal was bipartisan, and is very unlikely to happen. Remove those arguments from the above, and you have virtually nothing left. Better to vote for Connolly and Kaine and get some bipartisan solutions, instead of right-wing extremism.

Please-- enough bitter partisanship. Republican does not equal right-wing extremism. Col Perkins shows he is very much a moderate based on his background and campaign talks (See Vienna Patch interview with Col Perkins). We need someone to rise above the strident partisanship in Washington. A vote for Connelly will help ensure business as usual continues. Col Perkins wants to moderate the debate among both parties extreme policy and rhetoric.

Voting Republican has negative consequences -- ballooning the deficit to continue ill-advised tax cuts for the wealthy; denying the existence of climate change and subsidizing the pollution industry; repealing health coverage for millions; and allowing anti-government extremists to head the committees that make appropriations. Why on earth would moderate Northern Virigina ever want any of that?

When Gerry Connolly was Chairman of the fairfax county board of supervisors, he had to resort to word play trickery to get his last tax increase to the real estate tax rate approved. Connolly raised the tax rate but told his gullible citizens that they will actually pay less due to decreased property values. Guess what happened the next year? Connolly runs off to Congress. Magically, real estate assessments skyrocket even as the real value of homes plummet. Now we pay through the nose and Connolly cannot be held accountable as he ran off. It is not the Government's job to try to trick the citizens. I pray that I'm not the only one who remembers what Connolly did to us. For the love of God, let's replace the trickery of Connolly with the integrity of Col. Perkins. We won't get fooled again!
