William Wood, 82

Mr. William Chandler Wood, age 82 of Fairfax, VA passed away peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2014.

Mr. Wood was born February 21, 1932 in Norfolk, VA. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Marine Corp. 1st Marine Division during the Korean conflict. He fought in five major battles to include the Chosin Reservoir of North Korea in November/December 1950 (The Frozen Chosin) and was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat V and two Purple Hearts. Mr. Wood attended American University and retired in 1987 from the SEC as a Senior Associate Director, and was the recipient of two presidential awards during his career.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 56 years, Norma F. Wood, two sons, Mitchell and Kenneth Wood, and one granddaughter, Victoria Wood.

Graveside services with honors will be conducted Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Quantico National Cemetery.
