When Nelson Mandela died Thursday at the age of 95, the world took notice.
Though South Africa remains troubled by unemployment, poverty and crime, the country Mandela led as a president and inspirational leader remains remarkably at peace.
His death has been marked by words of reverence in the United States by everyone from Tiger Woods to President Obama, and by leaders and “regular people” worldwide.
More than an anti-apartheid champion, former president and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Mandela was an inspiration to at least two generations of people around the globe.
