In the summer of 2006, the Justiniano family looked forward to the start of the coming school year. After a divorce, Carmen and her sons had just moved into their current home in Fairfax. Jose, 12 years old at the time, would attend Robinson Secondary School, and Natanael, then 5, was ready for kindergarten at Bonnie Brae Elementary.
