Shopping Event for World Malaria Day

In support of World Malaria Day on April 25, 2012, 20% of Fair Trade Winds’ sales in their store in Old Town Fairfax will be given toward a continued effort to control, prevent, treat, and ultimately eliminate malaria. Fair Trade Winds’ donation to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Malaria eradication effort will help to buy mosquito netting, set up health clinics, research new methods to control the mosquitos that have become resistant to existing methods, and educate the people most affected by the threats of malaria.

Fair Trade Winds is highlighting their partnership with the group “five ACCESSORIES” and their work with artisans in Cambodia who turn old mosquito netting into fashion-forward bags of all sizes and colors. Fair Trade Winds carries a variety of five ACCESSORIES products including their Hip Bags, iPad cases, coin purses, men’s wallets, wristlets and more all handmade from up-cycled mosquito netting.
