Underachieving Teens with ADHD
Teachers, therapists and parents who deal with ADHD, Executive Function issues, and/or Gifted Underachievers should attend this free and open-to-the-public presentation, with Q&A and handouts. These three areas, all extremely frustrating, often have many learning differences in common, including being creative, “outside the box” thinkers, and visual-spatial learners. These students, like Einstein, Robin Williams, John F. Kennedy and Lady Ga Ga, generally are extremely unorganized, unfocused, have difficulty getting started on school work, and have significant stress and anxiety. Procrastination, motivation and advance planning can be problems.
Frequently, even the best teachers and counselors don’t understand these students’ learning or thinking styles and are not trained to get these students to learn what is required. Ms. Roberts has been a Special Education teacher in secondary schools, and currently has been a coach and educational consultant for Underachieving Teens at BrainRelief.org for ten years.
