The Concept of the Afterlife Under the Lens of Science, Reason and Religion

Albert Nekimken will lead a Science, Reason and Religion Forum on the concept of the afterlife.  While such a concept has been a ubiquitous feature of the human experience, more recently it has left the exclusive domain of religion and come under scrutiny by secular philosophers and scientists, particularly by medical researchers and cosmologists. Their work provides new perspectives on ancient religious views and a better understanding of the writings of the new atheists of the 21st Century. At the same time, contemporary religious thought shows signs of increasing sophistication regarding what had been historically a simple and commonly understood idea.

Nekimken is retired from a career in teaching, corporate training, investment banking and consulting which took his family around the country from West to East and abroad to Istanbul.

Note that this forum does not start until 1 pm (most forums start at 12:30 pm). It will be in the chapel of the Program Building of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax.  All are welcome.
