Rev Your Bev Day

Fairfax, VA – On May 14, 2014, Inova Health System’s Northern Virginia Healthy Kids, Mosaic and the Junior League of Northern Virginia will join youth volunteers, teachers, and health advocates across the state in raising awareness about the health effects of sugar-sweetened beverages as part of Y Street and the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth’s 2nd Annual Rev Your Bev Day.

Rev Your Bev Day is a statewide day of action to change the way Virginians think about what they drink. Building on the success of Rev Your Bev Day 2013, this year’s Rev Your Bev Day will continue to focus on educating Virginians about the health effects of sugar-sweetened beverages by focusing on the amount of physical activity needed to burn off the calories. Did you know it would take 66 minutes of biking away from zombies to burn off the calories in the average 64oz soda?

This year on Rev Your Bev Day, we will have a “Wheel of Sugar Sweetened Beverages” to inform the community-at-large about a wide variety of beverages and the importance of making healthy beverage choices. Come ready to play matching games, jump rope, hop, do jumping jacks and more!
