George Mason University Homecoming

FAIRFAX -- Homecoming 2014 is just around the corner and George Mason University is preparing to welcome alumni for a weekend of celebration.

The weekend opens on Friday, Feb. 14 with the eighth annual Alumni Beer Tasting from 7 to 9 p.m. in the East of the Patriot Center. This Alumni Association event features five beers by New Belgium Brewing Company.  This year, in keeping with the weekend theme, “Bringing Home the Green and Gold,” the beers will be paired with items from the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania.

On Saturday, Feb. 15, women’s basketball tips off against St. Joseph’s at 1 p.m. in the Patriot Center, followed by the 16th Annual Alumni Tailgate with Alumni Hospitality Tent from 3 to 5 p.m. in Parking Lot K.  The Alumni Association tailgate features a heated tent and The Mason Family Zone, providing entertainment for little Patriots. A chili cookoff will also take place in the lot.

The School of Law will hold an alumni reception from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Mason Hall’s Alumni Atrium, located within walking distance of the Patriot Center.  Law alumni and their families will gather at the reception and attend the basketball game in a reserved law alumni section.

At 6 p.m., men’s basketball takes on St. Bonaventure in the Patriot Center, followed by fireworks and a post-game party from 8:30–10:30 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Mason Inn Conference Center and Hotel.

On Sunday, February 16, the weekend wraps up with a champagne brunch from 10 a.m. to noon at the Mason Inn.
