The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program, sponsored since 1938 by The American Legion, is designed to instill in high school students a greater knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States.

The American Legion Fairfax Post 177 is conducting it’s local contest on Saturday, 5 January 2013 at 1:00 pm at our Post Home located at 3939 Oak Street, Fairfax, Virginia.  Post 177 will award a monetary prize to the top three contestants in the amount of $200, $100, and $50 respectively.  The winner of the Post contest will advance to the District 17 contest.  The District winner will advance to the Northern Regional and the Regional winner will advance to the Department (state) contest.  The Department winner will compete in the National contest.  Last year, Post 177’s winner went all the way to the Department where he came in second.
