Results for Fairfax County Sheriff Race 2013: Voters Head to the Polls

Fairfax County voters are heading to the polls Tuesday to bring an end to a bitterly fought race for sheriff, with accusations flying about everything from pilfered campaign signs to AR-15 purchases to unethical campaign mailers.

If elected, Democrat Stacey Kincaid, a captain in the county’s sheriff’s office, would be the first female sheriff of the county. She’s running against three contenders:

Republican Bryan “BA” Wolfe, Chris DeCarlo—who is also running for the House of Delegates in the 41st District, and has this rap video out titled “Democracy Rides Again”—and Robert Rivera. DeCarlo is a propane salesman. Rivera is a security analyst.

The race has increasingly centered on Kincaid versus Wolfe with the other two candidates often no-shows at local forums.

Wolfe, 52, a retired 26-year veteran of the Fairfax City Police Department, has said his priorities would include adding video cameras to the jails, and crisis intervention training to help deputies learn to spot growing mental health problems in those arrested for misdemeanors and other smaller crimes before things escalate to more serious crimes, or even mass shootings.

Kincaid, 48, a 26-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, said her priorities focused more on community outreach, especially in neighborhoods of diverse cultural backgrounds, in order to foster more cooperation and therefore safety for all residents.
