Weekend Planner: Light Up Fairfax Corner, Beijing Acrobats, Craft Show

FRIDAY

  • Light Up Fairfax Corner: Meet Santa and Mrs. Claus at Fairfax Corner's 25-foot holiday tree lighting. There will be carolers, hot cocoa, crafts and a $500 Fairfax Corner shopping spree giveaway. Bring new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots. 6-8 p.m.
  • Bingo: City of Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department offers bingo every Friday night at Fire Station No. 3. Starts at 7:15 p.m.
  • Medea: TheaterSpace in the Performing Arts Building at George Mason University. Shows on Nov. 18-20. Click here for times.
  • National Acrobats of the People's Republic of China: Acrobats visit from Beijing at GMU's Center for the Arts. Tickets start at $24. Performances on Nov. 18-20. Click here for more information.
  • Flow in the Dark: Hip hop cover/mashup band performs at Auld Shebeen. Click here to preview the band before you go.
  • Soul Craft, The Golden Butter Band, The Elevators: Three-band performance at Old Fire Station No. 3. Starts at 8 p.m. Show meant for 21+.

SATURDAY

  • Fall Food Drive: Donate toys, food and more to Our Daily Bread every Saturday until December 10. Drop off items at 10376 Willard Way, in the Courthouse Plaza (next to Safeway). Donations accepted 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Holiday Craft Show: This 25th annual event takes place at Fairfax High School. Admission costs $5 per day or $8 for a two-day pass. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Organized by the Parks and Recreation Department. Click here for details.
  • Lead Like a General: Author Paul Gilbert talks about what made the great generals from the Civil War. Part of the Civil War Interpretive Center series. Historic Blenheim, 2 p.m.
  • An Evening With Andre Rieu: Join composer Rieu as he leads his 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra in festival classical music. Audience members can get out of their chairs and waltz in the aisles. Tickets start at $49. Patriot Center, 8 p.m. Click here for more info.
  • Thanksgiving Wine Festival: The Wine House offers 40 wines to go with Thanksgiving dinner. $15 admission. 1-5 p.m.

SUNDAY

  • Iranian Lady by Homay and the Mastan: Enjoy a night of Persian music at GMU's Center for the Arts. Show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $29. Click here for more info.
  • NRBK and Heather HazeBoth bands perform at The Old Fire Station 3. Doors open at 4 p.m. Show open to all ages.
