BRAC / FAIRFAX COUNTY PARKWAY EXTENSION PROJECT

Daytime work - Closures occur between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

• Fairfax County Pkwy. (Route 7100) south to Rolling Rd. north - Single lane of ramp closed Monday - Thursday and Friday 9:30 a.m. to noon for shoulder work.
• Franconia Springfield Pkwy. (Route 7900) east and west from Rolling Rd. to Accotink Creek bridge - Single lane closed Monday - Thursday and Friday 9:30 a.m. to noon for utility and bridge work.
• Fairfax County Pkwy. extension (Route 7100) north to Franconia Springfield Parkway (Route 7900) - Single lane of ramp closed Monday - Thursday and Friday 9:30 a.m. to noon for shoulder work.
• Fairfax County Pkwy. (Route 7100) north and south from Barta Rd. to Franconia Springfield Pkwy. (Route 7900) - Single lane closed Monday - Thursday and Friday 9:30 a.m. to noon for construction in median for shoulder work.
• Fairfax County Pkwy. (Route 7100) north and south from Barta Rd. to Franconia Springfield Pkwy. (Route 7900) - Single lane closed Monday - Thursday and Friday 9:30 a.m. to noon for construction in median work or shoulder work.
• Rolling Rd. north and south at Fairfax County Pkwy. (Route 7100) to Barta Rd. - Single lane closed Monday - Thursday and Friday 9:30 a.m. to noon for median and shoulder work.

DULLES CORRIDOR METRORAIL PROJECT

Nighttime work - Closures occur between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted.

• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east at Westwood Center Dr. – Alternating multiple lane closures Tuesday and Friday nights for road shift, signal work, and barrier relocation. Traffic will be directed to follow poster detour signs.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west at Spring Hill Rd. - Left turn lane closed Thursday and Friday nights milling and overlay. Traffic will be directed to follow posted detour signs.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east at Marshall's Dr. – Left lane closed Monday - Friday nights for precast panel installation.
• Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north at Tysons Blvd. - Left turn lane closed Monday – Saturday nights for overhead station work. Traffic will be directed to follow posted detour signs.
• Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north at Tysons Blvd. – Left turn lane closed Sunday, Monday and Friday nights for utility work. Traffic will be directed to follow posted detour signs.
• Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south at Tysons Blvd. – Two right lanes closed Monday – Saturday nights for overhead station work. Traffic will be directed to follow posted detour signs.
• Spring Hill Rd. north and south at Leesburg Pike (Route 7) - Left turn lanes and through lanes closed Thursday and Friday nights for milling and overlay.  Traffic will be directed to follow posted detour signs.
• Galleria Dr. east at Tysons Blvd. - Right turn lane closed Monday – Saturday nights for station work. Traffic will be directed to follow posted detour signs.
• Tysons Blvd. east at Galleria Dr. - Right lane closed Monday - Saturday nights for station work. Traffic will be directed to follow posted detour signs.
• Westpark Dr. east at Jones Branch Dr. – Three left turn lanes closed Monday – Saturday nights for station work. Traffic will be directed to follow posted detour signs.

Weekday work - Closures occur between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
Police will be on site for motorist safety. All closures are weather permitting.

  • Expect daytime delays in the Tysons Corner area along the Dulles Connector Road (Route 267), Leesburg Pike (Route 7) and Dolley Madison Blvd. (Route 123).

 495 EXPRESS LANES PROJECT

Nighttime work - Closures occur between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted.

• I-495 south at Old Dominion Dr. overpass – Three lanes closed Tuesday night for overhead sign work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight. 
  
• I-495 south to Exit 45B, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) east - Ramp closed Monday - Friday nights for bridge painting. Traffic will be directed to continue south to Exit 46B, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north and follow signs to Dulles Connector  Rd. (Route 267) east.
• Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) west at I-495 - Road closed Monday- Friday nights for bridge painting. Traffic will be directed to I-495 north to Exit 44, Georgetown Pike (Route 193) west, stay to the left, follow signs to I-495 south and take Exit 45A,  Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) west.
• I-495 north to Exit 45A, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) west - Ramp closed Monday - Friday nights for bridge painting. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Exit 44, Georgetown Pike (Route 193) west, stay to the left, follow signs to I-495 south and take Exit 45A, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) west.
• I-495 south to Exit 46B, Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) north - Ramp closed for utility work on Thursday night from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Friday night from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m., and again on Saturday night from 8 p.m. until 9 a.m. Traffic will be directed to continue southbound and take Exit  47A, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west, make a right onto International Dr.  and a right onto Chain Bridge Road north.
• Westpark Dr. west at Shop Tysons Blvd. - Road closed Tuesday-Thursday nights for traffic signal work. Traffic will be directed to follow posted detour signs.
• I-495 north and south from Leesburg Pike (Route 7) to Oak St. overpass up to W&OD Trail overpass - Three lanes closed Monday - Saturday nights for bridge work, paving and traffic shift. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight. 
• I-495 south to Exit 47B, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east - Ramp closed Monday- Wednesday nights for traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to take Exit  47A, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west, make a U-turn at International Dr. onto Leesburg Pike (Route 7)  east.
• I-495 north to Exit 47A, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west - Ramp closed Monday- Friday nights for bridge joint work. Traffic will be directed to take Exit  47B, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east, make a U-turn at George Marshall Dr. onto Leesburg Pike (Route 7)  west.
• I-495 north to Exit 47B, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east - Ramp closed Tuesday and Friday nights for bridge joint work and traffic shifts. Traffic will be directed to continue northbound and take Exit 46A, Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) south, follow signage to I-495 south to Exit 47B, Leesburg Pike east.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east and west at I-495 - One lane closed Monday-Wednesday nights for bridge joint work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east at Old Gallows Road/Kidwell Drive Overpass- Three lanes closed Wednesday night for bridge overhead sign work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east to I-495 north- Ramp closed Monday - Wednesday nights for bridge joint work. Traffic will be directed to continue east, make a U-turn at George Marshall Drive and follow signs to I-495 north.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east to I-495 south- Ramp closed Wednesday night for bridge overhead sign work. Traffic will be directed to continue east, make a U-turn at George Marshall Drive and follow signs to I-495 south.
• Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east to I-66 west - Ramp closed intermittently for up to 30 minutes after midnight Monday - Saturday nights for overhead sign installation and utility work.
• I-495 south at I-66 – Road closed Thursday - Saturday nights for paving. Traffic will be directed to exit onto I-66 west to Exit 62, Nutley St., stay to the right, follow signs to I-66 east to I-495 south.
• I-66 west to I-495 south - Ramp closed Monday - Saturday nights for overhead sign installation and road work. Traffic will be directed to continue west to Exit 62, Nutley St. south, stay to the right, follow signs to I-66 east to I-495 south.
• I-66 east from Exit 62, Nutley St. to Exit 67, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) - Three lanes closed Monday- Saturday nights for overhead sign installation. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
• I-66 west from Exit 67, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) to Exit 64, I-495 - Single lane closed Monday- Saturday nights for utility work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
• I-66 east general purpose ramp (right exit) or HOV (left exit) to I-495 north - Ramp closed Monday - Saturday nights for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to use the I-66 east HOV ramp (left exit) or general purpose ramp (right exit) to access I- 495 north.
• I-66 east general purpose ramp (right exit) to I-495 south - Ramp closed Monday - Saturday nights for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to use the I-66 east HOV ramp (left exit) to access I- 495 south.
• Nutley St. north and south to I-66 east - Ramps closed Monday - Friday nights for overhead sign installation. Traffic will be directed to take I-66 west to Exit 57A, Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy. (Route 50) east, stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 east.
• I-495 north from Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) to Oak St. overpass - Three lanes closed Monday - Saturday nights for bridge demolition, painting and utility work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight. 
• Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) west and Fairview Park Dr. to I-495 north - Ramps closed Monday - Saturday nights for overhead sign work. Traffic will be directed to continue west to Gallows Rd. (Route 650) south and follow signs to I-495 north.
• I-495 south at Gallows Road (Route 650)- Three lanes closed Thursday - Saturday nights for bridge work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight. 
• Gallows Road (Route 650) north to I-495 south - Ramp closed Thursday - Saturday nights for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue northbound to Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) east and follow signage to I-495 south.
• Gallows Road (Route 650) south from Woodburn Drive to I-495 - Road closed Monday night for overhead sign installation. Traffic will be directed onto one northbound lane of Gallows Road.
• I-495 south at Exit 54, Braddock Rd. (Route 620) - Road closed Monday - Wednesday nights for steel beam erection. Traffic will be directed to take Exit 54A, Braddock Rd. (Route 620) west, make a left at the light onto Braddock Rd. (Route 620) east and follow signs to I-495 south.
• I-495 south to Exit 54B, Braddock Rd. (Route 620) east - Ramp closed Monday - Wednesday nights for steel beam erection. Traffic will be directed to take Exit 54A, Braddock Rd. (Route 620) west and make a left at the signal onto Braddock Rd. (Route 620) east.
• Braddock Rd. (Route 620) east at I-495 up to Ravensworth Road- Two lanes closed Thursday night for overhead sign installation. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight. 
• Braddock Rd. (Route 620) west at I-495 up to Ravensworth Road - One lane closed Thursday night for overhead sign installation.
• I-495 north from Heming Ave. underpass to Exit 54, Braddock Rd. (Route 620) - Two lanes closed Monday - Wednesday nights for detector installation.
• I-495 south (Outer Loop) to Exit 57A, I-395 north - Ramp closed Monday - Friday nights for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to take 57B, I-95 south to Exit 166B, Fairfax County Pkwy (Route 7100) south, stay to the right, follow signs to I-95 north and then signs to I-395.
• I-395 HOV Lanes – All 395 HOV lanes closed from D.C. line to Springfield Interchange Monday - Thursday nights for bridge painting and overhead sign installation. Traffic will be directed to use the general purpose I-395 lanes.
• I-395 south to Exit 169, Franconia Road/Old Keene Mill Road (Route 644) – Left ramp lane closed Friday night for utility work.
• I-395 south from Edsall Road to I-495- Two lanes closed Monday-Thursday nights for bridge painting and overhead sign installation.  Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight. 
• I-495 west/north (Inner Loop) to Exit 170B, I-395 north - Ramp closed Monday- Saturday nights for bridge work. Prior to work zone, traffic will be directed to take Exit 170A, I-95 south to Exit 166B, Fairfax County Pkwy (Route 7100) south, stay to the right, follow signs to I-95 north and then signs to I-395.

Weekday work- Closures occur between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

• Expect single lane closures on the Inner and Outer Loops of I-495 from Springfield Interchange to beyond the Dulles Toll Rd. (Route 267) within the project area including all connecting arterials.

Ongoing work

• Twelve interchanges along the I-495 corridor from the Springfield Interchange to just north of the Dulles Toll Road are under construction until December 2012. Visit the 495 Express Lanes Interchange Fact Sheet Page.
