Parents May Opt Out of 'Mandatory' HPV Vaccine

U.S. Senate candidate Jamie Radtke was in Annandale last week speaking about the issue.

The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is “mandatory” in Virginia—but parents can opt out of it,  this morning.

Last week at an event, Senate candidate Jamie Radtke, a former state tea party leader who is running for the seat being vacated by Sen. Jim Webb (D), said she is  in Virginia. Radtke later appeared at an event in Annandale.

The vaccine is in the national spotlight after a GOP presidential candidate debate where candidate Michele Bachman, a congresswoman from Minnesota, took after Texas Gov. Rick Perry for signing an executive order to make the vaccine a requirement in his state. She pointed out that he had received campaign contributions from the drug manufacturer.
