All Fairfax County Public Schools will be closed today due to icy road conditions. Offices are open with an unscheduled leave policy in effect.

The National Weather Service predicted a 100 percent chance for a "wintry mix" Monday night followed by freezing rain on Tuesday morning, which is creating havoc for the morning commute.

The "wintry mix" is a blend of rain, snow and sleet, starting before 9 p.m., with freezing rain falling between 9 p.m. and midnight. More rain or freezing rain is expected after midnight. Tuesday is shaping up to be a rainy day with a 90 percent chance and high of 40 degrees, which should help keep roads from getting icy.

If you're planning any playdates or outings, Thursday is your best bet. Forecasters are calling for a sunny day with a high of 36 degrees, followed that evening with... you guessed it, snow showers! Forty percent chance.
