Harlem Globetrotters at The Patriot Center

Where / When: The George Mason University Patriot Center, 4500 Patriot Circle Fairfax; Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: It’s good family fun 84 years in the making. Kids and adults can marvel at the dunking and jumping of this famous basketball team.

Price: Tickets start at $20 and are available online.  

Aesop's Fables and Other Tales – a Family Concert

Where / When: Vienna Baptist Church, 541 Marshall Road SW, Vienna; Saturday, March 5 at 4:00 p.m.

Why Go: The Vienna Choral Society and special guests Mark Jaster and Sabrina Mandell of Happenstance Theater take a romp through Aesop's Fables And Other Tales in an engaging afternoon family concert. Be enchanted by favorite and new stories in both mime and song. The music of the stories is lush and exciting, and the playful theatrics of Mark Jaster and Sabrina Mandell are not to be missed.

Price: $20 Adult, $15 Senior/Student, $35 Family. Tickets are available at the door or online.

Chocolate Lovers Festival in Fairfax

Where / When: Several locations in Old Town Fairfax; Saturday, March 5 through Sunday, March 6. Activities range in starting times throughout both days.

Why Go: It gives you a legitimate reason to eat chocolate. And, this annual event has a variety of fun events, like a pancake breakfast, a chocolate caper mock trial for kids to learn about the judicial system, storytelling, crafts activities and children’s music entertainers. There’s something for everyone.

Price: Many activities are free, though some do cost a fee. Visit the festival Web site for a full event schedule and price information.

Theater and Music Performances at the Harmonia School of Music

Where / When: Harmonia School of Music & Art, 240-F Mill Street, Vienna (new location); Saturday, March 5 at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 6 at 5:00 p.m.

Why Go: Share some theater with your young children or teen. Choose from two performances this weekend offered by Harmonia: on Saturday, see Rudyard Kipling’s “Just So Stories,” a compilation of stories including “How the Camel Got His Hump” and “The Elephant Child,” presented by the Musical Theatre Classes at Harmonia. On Sunday, see “A Condition of Life,” presented by the Advanced Theatre Department of Harmonia.

Price: “Just So Stories” on Saturday is $5.00. “A Condition of Life” on Sunday is free!

Kids Yoga Class at East Meets West Center

Where / When: East Meets West Center, 144 Church Street NW, Vienna (entrance on side of building); Thursdays, 4:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Why Go: Teacher Cynthia Maltenfort leads kids ages 5 – 12 through a yoga practice to help children build strength and flexibility, concentration and focus, compassion and self-esteem through the playful practice of yoga postures. Sometimes the teacher even brings in her cockatoo!

Price: $13 for a drop-in fee, payable before class.
