Nicole Brings Flood, Tornado Alerts, Rising Accotink Water Levels

Send your weather updates to whitney@patch.com.

With flash flood warnings in effect for Fairfax City and the immediate areas, the rain might make for more than the usual morning commute headache.

Watch out for flooded roadways and keep an ear on local radio broadcasts while on the road this morning. Tropical Storm Nicole is expected to dump between two and three inches of rain (maybe up to six inches in some areas) on Northern Virginia through this evening.

A flash flood warning is in effect for Fairfax City until 6 a.m. Friday.
