• Commission on the Arts Meeting: Art enthusiasts get together to organize and fund art events in Fairfax City. Sherwood Community Center, 7 p.m.
• Evening Book Discussion: Join avid readers in discussing "The Killer Angels" by Michael Shaara. Fairfax City Regional Library, 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday

• Economic Development Authority Meeting: Fairfax Innovation Center, 4031 University Drive, 5:30 p.m.
• Board of Architectural Review Meeting: City Hall, 7:30 p.m.
• Conversation with Kevin Powell: Speak with writer, activist, public speaker and entrepreneur Kevin Powell. • Batlimore Aquarium Trip for Seniors: For $45 and the price of lunch, seniors can enjoy a dolphin show and 4D movie with a self-guided tour of the aquarium. Be prepared for lots of walking. Group leaves Senior Center at 8:30 a.m. Call 703-359-2487 for more information.

Thursday

• Cool Cats & Hot Dogs: Stories, songs and finger plays. Ages 3-5. Must be accompanied by an adult. Fairfax City Regional Library, 10:30 a.m.
• Afternoon Reading Group: Discuss "Bel Canto" by Ann Patchett. Fairfax City Regional Library, 1 p.m.
• Main Street Community Band Performance: As part of the city's Summer Concert Series, the Main Street Community Band performs at Veterans Amphitheater by City Hall, 8 p.m.
