There were a potential 41 million children trick-or-treating in 2011.

Here’s a few fun facts about Halloween:

• 41 million – The estimated number of potential trick-or-treaters in 2011 of children ages 5-14 across the US. This doesn’t include the many children under and older than those ages who trick-or-treat.

• 132 million – The number of occupied homes in the US in 2011 — or the potential number of stops for trick-or-treaters.

• $113 million – The value of pumpkins harvested from the top six pumpkin-producing states in 2011, which includes Illinois, California, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan.

• Halloween Cities – Places in the US that may put you in the Halloween mood include: Transylvania County, NC; Tombstone, AZ; Pumpkin Center, NC; Cape Fear in New Hanover County, NC; Cape Fear in Chatham County, NC; Skull Creek, NE.

• 1,555 – The number of manufacturers in the US that produced chocolate and cocoa products in 2010. They employ 35,074 people.

• 409 – The number of manufacturers in the US that produce non-chocolate candy products in 2010. They employ 17,526 people.

• 1,634 – The number of places in the US to rent costumes or formal wear in 2010.
