Free Electronic Medic Alert Bracelets "ICEdot"

Free one year subscriptions to the "ICEdot", formally known as invisible bracelet program. A HIPAA compliant, electronic web version of medic alert bracelets and file of life.

Many of you are familiar with our long standing File-of-Life Program. The File-of-Life Program is a packet you fill out and place on your refrigerator with all or your pertinent emergency medical information. We are proud to announce the next generation in medical information sharing, ICEdot, formally known as the invisible bracelet program.

This program began in 2009 and has been steadily growing ever since. Whether you are a concerned family member of an aging loved one, or a young athlete with a medical condition, ICEdot allows you to relay your important medical information at a time when you may not be able to.

The City of Fairfax Professional Firefighters and The Fairfax Volunteer Fire department have teamed up to purchase 800 subscriptions to the program. ICEdot is a database that stores individual’s medical information in a HIPAA compliant manner and is accessible only by registered emergency medical responders and INOVA Fair Oaks emergency room (with expectations that other local hospitals will opt-in to the database program). Individuals create and maintain their medical history information and medications via computer. Each individual is assigned a unique code listed on a wallet card, stickers, and keychain fobs kept by the individual (much like retail "club" or "membership" cards).

Participants may opt for e-mail reminders to update information and designate individuals who will receive a text message in case of emergency. This can create a real peace of mind for family members who will be instantly notified if their loved one is transported to a hospital. The text message will also tell you where the patient is being transported. Individuals may designate a friend or family member to submit their information to the database.

The cost for this service is only $10 a year, or by entering this promotional code: AYJLE, you will receive the first year free courtesy of the City of Fairfax Professional Firefighters and Paramedics and the Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department. If you have any questions feel free to contact me anytime, or for more information: https://icedot.org/site/
