City of Fairfax Firefighters are Collecting Donations for MDA

MDA Fill-the-Boot update

You will be seeing firefighters from the City of Fairfax in intersections for the remainder of this week as we wrap-up our annual Fill-the-Boot campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  We began last Thursday and Friday and we collected a record $24,000 in just two days.  We are continuing through the remainder of this week ending our campaign this Friday.  Last year we collected a total of $40,000.  With four more days to go we are looking to far exceed our expectations this year and are hoping to break our record of $60,828 set in 2008.

We would also like to thank the City Council for their continued support of these efforts as well as all the residents of Fairfax City who show their support by making personal contributions to our Fill the Boot campaign. Together we can make a difference!

Because of your generosity and support MDA researchers have recently developed a molecule that may reverse the progression of myotonic dystrophy, the most common form of muscular dystrophy – putting us even closer to eventually finding a cure.

If you have any questions about the Muscular Dystrophy Association or are unable to get out to make a donation to our firefighters you can make a donation directly by contacting the Reston MDA office at 703-476-5780
