Ready to Pick Fairfax's Best Burger?

Nominate your local best-burger biz before Friday.

Baseball and hot dogs may be pillars of America's national pastime, but everyone knows football and hamburgers rule the day. Want a burger or a dog?

It's a no brainer.

In fact, any restaurant in America that doesn't specialize in chicken or Asian food can likely whip up some sort of burger for you, even if you're ordering off the menu.

Patch is banking that its readers have their favorite burgers, and we want to find them. Whether slathered in bleu cheese or special sauce, whether flanked by sesame seed buns or sourdough, whether the lettuce is leafy or chopped, whether shouldering bacon or mushrooms or both, there are a million combinations of burgers.

We will be designating a "Best Burger in Town" award to one establishment in Fairfax City.

The winner might come from a burger chain, an indie burger joint or a hoity-toity restaurant. The champ could be all-beef, or an ahi tuna burger. Every place, and every burger, is unique.

Once we get nominations, we'll have a poll for readers to vote for the best burger and a forum to debate the issue because, really, that's going to be just as fun.

The presidential candidates can talk about health care; we want to talk about how to clog our arteries. Or, if you're into low-fat, tell us about your favorite veggie burger.

The best burger. Bring it on—and bring an order of fries with it.

Here are just a few of our favorites in Fairfax City, but if we're leaving one off of the list, please let us know in the comments and we'll add it (your recommendations are bolded):

Nominate your favorite before Friday at 9 a.m., and we'll include it in our poll. We'll start voting on Monday, April 1. If there's a tie, the location with the most positive comments and reviews will win.

Dump Burger King (seriously? BK?) and add PJ Skidoos, Red Hot & Blue, and Hard Times. When is Elevation Burger supposed to open by Woodson? They have a good burger too, and you can stack them as high as you can unhinge your jaw!

Once the Greene Turtle opens, they will be in contention as well.

Glory Days has great burgers, but I think they are just outside city limits, so I guess they are ineligible. Oh well.

Nothing against the new tenants, but this poll makes me miss our late, lamented Foster's...

Coyote Grille has the best burger in town. Put it on the list.

I know right? Sonic is the best. Is there an Applebees in Fairfax City? The one I know of is in Fair Lakes.
