The restaurant, located at 3950 University Dr. in Old Town, is launching a contest beginning this Sunday, Sept. 1 to pick the winner among the staff's top three picks for the restaurant's new name.
Locals who log on to the restaurant's website and vote for their favorite among the three finalists will be automatically entered in a contest to win prizes including $500 in free food.
The staff of The Food said the restaurant has all new management as of January, and they are revamping their menu. They decided a new name was in order to reflect the big changes underway.
"Here, everything is made fresh, not frozen," the staff said in a news release. "The new restaurant offers juicy burgers, tender kebabs, flatbread- and New York-style pizzas, delicious wraps, hand-cut fries, and a fresh salad bar, as well as healthy options for vegetarians including potato sambosas, hummus, bolanee, veggie kebabs, pizzas and salads."
"The restaurant’s variety of original recipe sauces and its fresh mint lemonade drink have been a hit," they continued.
The three finalist names the staff is trying to choose between are Potomac's, Georgee's, and The Sauce Spot.
Voting will be open from Sept. 1-15. From those who vote, one person will be chosen at random to win $500 worth of food to enjoy over one year, and two runners-up will each receive $50 gift certificates.
Every single person who votes will receive a coupon via e-mail for 10 percent off a future visit, they said.
Contestants must be 18 years or older to win.
To vote on the restaurant's new name and be automatically entered in the contest, log on to www.thefoodfairfax.com between Sept. 1 and 15. You must enter a valid e-mail address to be entered to win and to receive your 10-percent-off coupon.
