Gas prices in Virginia are near the lowest in the nation - and, in Fairfax, we're right there among the statewide average.

The average cost of regular gas in the Commonwealth is $3.262, according to GasBuddy.com.

South Carolina has the lowest average at $3.114.

The highest?  Hawaii, at $4.401.

The Fairfax gas station in the 22030 zip code with the cheapest gas is BJ's at 13053 Fair Lakes Shopping Center, near Fair Lakes Boulevard, at $3.29 as of late Friday afternoon.

At the start of September, when it seemed a U.S. attack on Syria was looming, industry experts warned a war in Syria would cause oil prices to spike, but at least for now, prices appear to be holding steady.
