Calling All Entrants for the 'Chocolate Challenge'

This tasty competition will take place in Old Town Fairfax the weekend of Feb. 1-2, 2014.

Chocolate challenge? Sounds like my kind of event!

The City of Fairfax has put out a call for entries for the upcoming "Chocolate Challenge."

As part of the annual 2014 Chocolate Lovers Festival, coming up on Feb. 1-2, 2014, the City is inviting professionals and amateurs alike to submit their applications to participate in the Chocolate Challenge.

The challenge consists of a grand display of sculptures, cakes, cupcakes and other treats made of chocolate. The display will be featured in the Mason Nutrition Kitchen, 3950 University Dr. in Old Town Fairfax, during the festival weekend.

Both celebrity judges and visitors will have a chance to judge the entries in numerous categories, and specially donated cakes will also be offered in a silent auction.

Entry forms to display creations for the Chocolate Challenge are due by Jan. 27. Click here for the Chocolate Challenge's Rules and Regulations.

Other events throughout the festival weekend include fun activities like the Taste of Chocolate sampling event in Old Town Hall, children's activities like free performances and face-painting, cake decorating workshops, free tours of local historic sites, and much more.

The City of Fairfax's annual Chocolate Lovers Festival is a widely popular event, drawing visitors from throughout the region. The event was voted a "Best in Virginia" award winner by Virginia Living in 2012.
