New Art Exhibit 'Popping Up' Again Saturday

Representatives say Old Town's new 'pop-up' gallery continues to grow in popularity.

Three weeks in to its "pop-up" life, the temporary Metropolitan Art Project gallery continues to grow in popularity, representatives say.

"This art project has just gone crazy," said Robert Golden of the Dickson Company, which leased the unique pop-up gallery its temporary space at 10409-A Main St. in Old Town Fairfax City.

"The residents are loving it. I am so thankful," he said.

Golden added, it seems to be a great thing for summertime in Fairfax City, judging by the overwhelming response each new exhibit opening has seen over the past few weeks.

"This has energized me about the city so much," he said.

Each Saturday, the Metropolitan Art Project's founders tear down the previous week's exhibit and put up a whole new one, with new artists and new works of art, and celebrate with an opening party that welcomes the public.

This Saturday night, 6-9 p.m., a new exhibit entitled "Entropy" opens, featuring the works of Tracie Marie Lee, Gabriel Mellan, Megan Maher, Rebecca Quinn, and Whitney Waller.
