How to Get Seats for FFtB's Walker, Gaiman, Chabon Events

You can still reserve your free tickets for this year's Fall for the Book headliner events. Here's how to secure a seat to listen to Neil Gaiman, Michael Chabon and, if you're lucky, Alice Walker.

Alice Walker is most known for her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel "The Color Purple." She'll talk about Purple, her other works (there's quite a few) as well as her social and political activism in this fourth annual Mason Reads event.

• Ticket reservations are full, but you can get a spot on the event's wait list by emailing reservations@fallforthebook.org. The event starts at 3 p.m. on Sept. 27.

Neil Gaiman will accept the Mason Award at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 28. Gaiman penned "Sandman" the first comic to receive a literary award, which also won 12 Eisner Comic Industray Awards and a World Fantasy Award. He's written more award-winning fantasy works since the 75-issue Sandman started in 1988.

Michael Chabon will accept the Fairfax Prize at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 30. He wrote the Pulitzer-winning "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay" as well as several other award-winning novels and other works. He recently signed on as chairman of the board of directors at MacDowell Colony.

• Both events still have reserved seating available. Reserve your seat by emailing reservations@fallforthebook.org with the event in the subject line and the number of tickets and names of people attending in the email body.

Mason students can still grab reservations for all three events by bringing a Mason ID to the Fall for the Book table at the North Plaza during Welcome Week.
