The Hub Theatre presents BIG LOVE

Closing out The Hub Theatre's mainstage season is Big Love by Charles Mee, the most ambitious Hub production yet. Big Love is described as a modern re-telling of one of the western world’s oldest plays, The Danaids by Aeschylus.

Fifty brides flee their fifty grooms and seek refuge in a villa on the coast of Italy. When the grooms track down the brides (arriving by helicopter in flight suits), the women rebel. It’s sensory overload with pop songs, romantic dances, absolute mayhem and ... murder!

Spoiler alert! Unable to escape their forced marriages, 49 brides murder 49 grooms, while one couple falls in love—about the same odds as today.
