A Celtic Christmas with Síor-Óg and friends

On December 17, 2010, the City of Fairfax Commission on the Arts will sponsor the fourth annual A Celtic Christmas with Síor-Óg and Friends at Old Town Hall, which is located in the heart of Old Town Fairfax at 3999 University Drive, Fairfax, VA 22030.  The show starts at 8:00 p.m. and is free.  Plenty of free parking is available next to Old Town Hall.

Penelope Fleming is a spellbinding storyteller from Voices in the Glen who will tell the story of The Christmas Cabin of Carnaween and others.  Last year Penelope Fleming served as the Narrator for Creative Cauldron's premiere production of The Christmas Cabin of Carnaween, which The Washington Post called "...vibrantly Irish in ambiance and theme."

Ellie Mandell and Nicole Piche, two young singers who performed recently at The Irish Folk Festival in Old Town Fairfax, will sing some delightful Celtic Christmas songs in Irish and English including The Fairy Song in The Christmas Cabin of Carnaween.

The Boyle School of Irish Dance, under the direction of award-winning dancers Alannah Boyle Sweeney and Ellen Boyle Gibbons, will present a spectacular display of Irish step dancing.  The Boyle School won "Best Irish Dancing School" in the D.C. Saint Patrick's Day parade in 2006. In June of 2007 Boyle School dancers were chosen to do a preview performance at Wolf Trap on the opening night of Riverdance.

At the concert, Síor-Óg will also offer a CD Síor-Óg - A Celtic Christmas with many of the songs and tunes presented at the concert.
