The annual FFTB presentation honors authors who've helped make literature accessible and tantalizing to everyone, especially those less inclined to pick up a book.

King headlines the awards ceremony. He boasts about 50 published books over a 40-year writing career. His novels, like "Carrie," "The Shining," "The Stand," the "Dark Tower" series, and countless others have graced book collector's shelves and coffee tables alike. 

His latest work, "11/22/63," a time-traveling adventure surrounding the JFK assassination, is due in November, according to FFTB.

The awards even, sponsored by George Mason University Libraries and by Mystery Writers of America, will be held in the Center for the Arts Concert Hall at Mason's Fairfax Campus on September 23.
