The National Weather Service is giving Northern Virginia a 60 percent chance of seeing thunderstorms Wednesday.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook from the National Weather Service for the area states that thunderstorms capable of producing wind gusts and localized flash flooding are possible late this afternoon and evening.

Capital Weather Gang predicts if a storm hits it may likely sweep the area in the 5-6 p.m. range, during the evening commute.

Here's what the NWS says: "Scattered showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 87. Southwest wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms."

Thursday and Friday are expected to be sunny.
