Local Runners Race to Raise Funds for Volunteer Programs

Volunteer Fairfax held its 3rd annual VolRUNteer 5K at Fairfax Corner.

Over 500 runners competed in the VolRUNteer 5K at Fairfax Corner on Dec. 1 to raise money for volunteer programs in Northern Virginia.

Fairfax runner Rory Duffield placed first in the male 30-39 years age group. He was joined by Cathy Ross from Burke, who finished second overall in the female group. Here's a list of other noted finishers:

  • Age 50-99 First Place Female Winner: Merrilee Seidman – Alexandria
  • Age 50-99 Second Place Male Winner: Paul Bousel – Alexandria
  • Age 30-39 Second Place Male Winner: Jason Brown – Arlington
  • Age 20-29 Second Place Male Winner: Jeffery Feldman – Arlington

Volunteer Fairfax, an organization that works to match up the skills and interests of volunteers and donors to local nonprofit organizations, started its annual fundraising race in 2010.
