Crime Report: Two Men Run Up Bar Charge With Stolen Credit Card

Also, an embezzlement arrest, and several thefts.

 

Last Monday, May 27, a man called Fairfax City Police at around 10:01 p.m. to report that he had accidentally left his credit card at a local business after making a purchase earlier that evening, at around 6 p.m.

He reported that, in the past few hours, someone had obviously stolen his credit card at that business, and was now using it to make fraudulent purchases at the Red Zone Grill bar at 10560 Main St.

Members of the Patrol Division went to the bar to investigate.

At Red Zone, two suspects were identified. One was taken into custody at the bar - Bannacheck Kellibrew, 34, of Washington, D.C., was transported to the Adult Detention Center where he was charged with credit card forgery.

Multiple warrants were issued for the second suspect, including credit card fraud, destruction of evidence, credit card forgery and defrauding an innkeeper. Warrant service is pending.

The following additional incidents were also reported by the Fairfax City Police Department, from May 24 to 31. Where arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

May 25 - Trespassing: At 5:33 a.m. an employee of the 7-Eleven store at 3910 University Dr. reported that a male subject who had previously been given a trespass notice from the business had returned to the store. The subject was taken into custody outside the store. Ahmad Lee Goodwin, 27, of no fixed address, was transported to the Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with trespassing. His bond was set at $300.

May 28 - Larceny/Stolen Cash: Around 9 p.m., the manager of the Subway sandwich store on Main Street reported that, on May 14, an unknown male subject had stolen money from the store by removing a $100 bill which had been left on top of the cash register after the subject had presented it in payment for a small amount and had received the change.

May 29 - Larceny/iPad: At approximately 12:39 p.m. the victim reported that, at about 2 p.m. on May 27, he had inadvertently left his iPad in his shopping cart at the Home Depot at 3201 Old Lee Highway, and when he had returned to retrieve it, he found it had been stolen by an unknown person or persons.

May 30 - Larceny/Stolen Computer: At around 1:19 a.m. a female resident of the 4000 block of Woodland Dr. reported that, sometime between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m. on May 29, an unknown person or persons had stolen her computer from her residence. 

May 30 - Larceny/Cell Phone Snatch: At around 10:21 a.m., a man reported that an unknown person or persons had taken his cell phone, which he had accidentally left on the sink counter in the restroom at the Fairfax City Regional Library, 10360 North St.

May 30 - Embezzlement Arrest: At 2:05 p.m., a security officer at the Home Depot at 3201 Old Lee Highway reported that it had been determined that a store employee had taken a gift card from a cashier’s stand and used it to make several purchases between April 22 and May 26. The employee was located at the store. Kasra Gharemani Maranglou, 54, of Vienna, was charged with embezzlement and released on a summons.

May 30 - Larceny/Purse Snatch: At 2:47 p.m., a woman reported that, at about 1:10 p.m., an unknown person or persons had stolen her purse, which she had set on the self-checkout conveyor belt at the Giant grocery store at 11200 Fairfax Boulevard. The purse contained cash, identification, and credit and debit cards.

May 30 - Larceny Arrest: At 6:18 p.m., an employee of the 7-Eleven at 10911 Main St. reported that a male subject had stolen a bottle of wine from the store. The suspect was located in the area and taken into custody. Richard Hurdle, 59, of no fixed address, was transported to the Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with felony larceny, third or subsequent offense, and possessing alcohol after being interdicted. He was ordered held without bond on the larceny charge, and on a $1,000 bond on the interdiction charge.

May 30 - Larceny/Stolen License Plates: At 7:40 p.m., a resident of the 10500 block of Cedar Avenue reported that, sometime between 5 p.m. on May 29 and 11:45 a.m. on May 30, an unknown person or persons had stolen both license plates from her parked vehicle. 

May 31 - Embezzlement: At 11:33 a.m., a security manager at the Walgreen's at 10320 Main St. reported that it had been determined that a former employee had stolen merchandise from the store after closing between May, 2012 and May, 2013. Following an investigation by the Patrol Division, a warrant was obtained charging the suspect with embezzlement. Warrant service is pending.
