UPDATE: Patch is at Celebrate Fairfax Saturday morning and the weather is very comfortable — stop by and see us this weekend at Booth #610 on Children's Avenue. We're right next door to the petting zoo!

Rain from Tropical Storm Andrea may be an univited guest to Celebrate Fairfax!, but the annual festival is on for Friday through Sunday on the grounds of the Fairfax County Government Center in Fairfax.

Directions: To get to the festival at 12000 Government Center Parkway, find directions here. You can park at Fair Oaks Mall and ride to the festival on free shuttle buses provided by the festival. On-site parking at the Fairfax County Government Center is available for persons with valid handicapped permits at the Green Gate. A golf cart is available to transport handicapped visitors to festival program areas. Just ask at the gate for assistance.

Celebrate Fairfax! hours are:

  • Friday: 6 p.m. to midnight
  • Saturday: 10 a.m. to midnight
  • Sunday: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Admission: Tickets can be purchased online and printed out; in-person beforehand at the Fairfax, Dulles or Gainesville Wegmans or at the festival. One-day tickets are free for ages 2 and younger; $4 for ages 3-10, $5 at the festival; adults, $9 online or at Wegmans and $12 at the festival. 

Carnival rides cost extra and tickets are purchased separately in $1 increments. Each ride costs between two to five tickets. A $25 hand stamp can be purchased on Saturday or Sunday and is good for one day for all rides.

Fun for kids: The festival features lots of fun for kids of all ages, and will include a petting zoo, Busch Garden's Children's stage, Inova Health System Train Ride to Good Health, Kids Crafts, and new this year, an instrument petting zoo and the Silent Disco Jr. powered by Radio Disney. All programs and activities in ExxonMobil Children's Avenue are free with festival admission

The hours for the ExxonMobil Children's Avenue are Friday: 6-8:30 p.m, Saturday: 10 a.m.-8:30 p.m. and Sunday: 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

The 25-acre site is magically filled with fascinating sights and sounds of more than 300 exhibitorsfood vendorscrafters and interactive activities. Celebrate Fairfax! showcases live concerts on eight stagesExxonMobil Children's Avenue, a petting zoo, the Fairfax County Karaoke Championshipcarnival rides, and great festival foods. Another fun activity for kids is the Inova Train Ride to Good Health.

AT&T customers who head to Celebrate Fairfax! this weekend will experience a boost in wireless phone coverage, thanks to a temporary cell site that AT&T has brought to the event to help accommodate the thousands of attendees expected this year. The augmentation will help improve reliability and data speeds.
