Brownie Troop Holds Clothing, Toys Drive for Victims of Hurricane Sandy

Drop off your used clothing and toys on Sunday.

Stop by the Green Acres Center Sunday to donate clothing and toys for victims of Hurricane Sandy. Daniels Run Brownie Troop No. 1523 will host the event to help their adopted sister troop from New York.

"During our last meeting we wrote letters to the girls in the troop and decided to hold a fundraiser to help the troop buy new supplies," co-leader Darcy Acquavella said.

The drive runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 4401 Sideburn Road. Bring gently used clothing and toys. The effort is part of the Girl Scouts of the U.S. "Journeys: It's Your World, Change It" program.

"All of their arts and crafts supplies were lost when the first floor of the their elementary school flooded during Hurricane Sandy," Acquavella said. "100 percent of the proceeds will be sent to Troop No. 2262 so that they may purchase new arts and crafts supplies, as well as any other items their troop needs to replace, such as patches and vests."
