Fairfax Area Companies Make List of Fastest-Growing in Virginia

Out of the 50 companies on the list, a whopping 25 are in Fairfax County, and two are led by women.

  The Virginia Chamber of Commerce released its "Fabulous 50" ranking of the of the fastest-growing businesses in Virginia - and three of them are in Fairfax, just outside of the Fairfax City limits. Twenty-five Fairfax County companies comprise half of the 2013 list, prompting Time Magazine to call Fairfax County "one of the greatest economic success stories" of our time. Tysons Corner-based Integrity Management Consulting, which supports federal agencies with acquisition and program management and which posted a growth rate of 2,165 percent between 2008 and 2011, topped the list as the fastest-growing company in the state. Farmers Market Season Kicks Off This Weekend!

City Passes Budget - How it Will Affect You

Spending is up 8.3 percent over last year, and homeowners will see a jump in their real estate tax and wastewater bills.

  The City of Fairfax has officially adopted its budget for Fiscal Year 2013-144 (FY 13-14). In a nutshell, yes – taxes are going up. But, not as much as City staff had originally proposed. General fund and spending In its meeting last Tuesday, April 30, the City Council approved the City’s $125.6-million general fund operating budget for FY 13-14. That is an increase of $5 million, or 4.2 percent, from the prior year.  The total of all appropriated funds is $175.4 million, an 8.3 percent increase above the previous fiscal year’s budget.  Real estate taxes going up As expected, the Council did vote to raise real estate taxes, for the second year in a row, for residential home owners – but, not as much as City Manager Bob Sisson originally …

Forbes: Fairfax County Among America's 10 Wealthiest Counties

Fairfax County's median income puts it on top 10 list nationwide; third in Virginia.

  Feeling wealthy? With a median household income of more than $105,000, Fairfax County is one of the wealthiest in the United States, according to a new report from Forbes. That places Fairfax County among America’s 10 richest counties in the United States. The list is from Census median household income numbers compiled by the U. S. Census Bureau’s Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates from 2011, the most recent year for which is available. Are there other top lists where you'd expect to find Fairfax County?
