Happy New Year!
I have 30+ years providing tech assistance and recently, have added one-on-one sessions for dementia and stroke impaired seniors using tablets. I love what I do and wanted to give local residents a New Year's gift.
Grandparents Gone Wired is a new campaign that for someone like me, a total supporter to get more people better connected online, is simply great. This campaign is sponsored by dosomething.org, which has given incentives to those of us who work and assist with technology for an older age group.
So this week, through January 10th, I am offering the first six people who email me a free install and teaching session on how to use Skype.
The people must be 55+ although you can email for your local parents or friends to qualify. Friends and relatives are welcome to sit in on the session.
You must be a Vienna, Oakton, Fairfax City or Reston resident. Skype really costs zero to use. There are also alternatives like Facetime which is available with Apple (Iphone or Ipad) and Android (many tablets and phones)0based mobile products which, is another choice.
If you need an upgrade on your computer, or don't currently have any equipment to use these connection tools, I can assess and advise.
So if you feel that getting connected is a priority for 2013, then take action. You can contact me at ctlejeune@highperformanceaging.com

Does this mean that I can use this venue to advertise my products and services too?

Mr. Dorr- The offer to install and train six individuals over the age of 55 to become digitally connected using Skype, is as stated, a 100% free offer, no strings.
Motivation to connect via the internet is important. If it takes volunteering some hours to create that buy-in, I'm all in!

I find it ironic that dosomething.org is sponsoring something that'll make seniors sit on their butt on skype and do nothing. :)
