However, those who aren't students or faculty may carry guns on campus, just not inside any buildings or at events, if they have the proper permit.

      There is safety in numbers i.e 9, 38, 40, 41, 44, 45

The absence of these is a "0" = no safety. You do the math, it's elementary.

knowing they will face armed resistance is in itself a powerful deterrent to a spree shooter. most pick "gun free zones" after coming to the logical conclusion that they can do the most damage there.

The largest Gun Free Zone in our area, otherwise known as Washington, DC.

      How's that working?

If anyone can tell me, honestly, a law that would have prevented Cho from shooting up Virginia Tech, I will vote for it. Unfortunately, I do not think one could possibly exist. After all, what other laws did he break?
      1: murder (numerous counts)
      2: attempted murder (numerous counts)
      3: pre-meditated murder
4: assault with a deadly weapon
5: carrying concealed firearms without a permit
6: display a firearm in the commission of a felony
7: discharging firearms within a building
8: willfully discharge firearms in a public place
      etc., etc., etc.

So given that Cho was more than willing to break EACH of the above laws, what law could have been passed that Cho (a) would have personally recognize and (b) caused him to alter his behavior?

Anyone think it odd that more than 1,200 people have voted in this poll when other polls on the site have around 100 votes? Even the Paterno question only garnered 173 votes.

Oh, wait...maybe this explains the uptick in popularity of local issues:
