POLL: Do You Want the Lamb Center to Stay at Fairfax Circle?

Chime in and explain your vote in the comments.

The Lamb Center is fighting in court to continue providing showers, food and laundry services for homeless in Fairfax City.

For years the center has heard approval from the community for its altruistic mission and frustration from nearby residents and business over the not-always-positive actions of its clientele.

What do you think?

Do you approve of the Lamb Center's noble cause and want the nonprofit to stay?

Or...

Do you think the cons outweigh the good intentions?

The Lamb Center and all its volunteers provide a heart-warming and necessary service to care for our homeless in Fairfax. They should not have to continually to fight to provide for those in need.

The Lamb Center provides a wonderful service to those in need in our community. I believe they should be allowed to stay at their location in Fairfax Circle. I also think it would be great if they were given the empty space next door that previously belonged to 7-11 so they could expand their services and increase the number of guests they could serve.

I personally think the lamb center should be able to stay..They provide a good place for the homeless to do what they need to do to find jobs and get straight. I used to go tot he lamb center everyday to do laundry and shower..They are doing Gods work and should not be shut down but given more room to expand

I understand the NIMBY feeling, however, sometimes things are bigger than ourselves and understand that we have a responsibility to our fellow human beings to help out those who are less fortunate. This should not be mandated by our government, but voluntarily done by those who truly care. The Lamb Center does this for those in need and should be applauded for their caring spirit......

If not for the Lamb Center, the homeless people that it assists would need explore their options: relocate to another center (hardly an option with no transportation, money, or other place to call home...whatever that may be), get a job (hey...good luck with that considering all of the highly employable individuals currently competing for all available jobs), starve to death or die from harsh weather exposure due to lack of appropriate food or clothing, kill themselves...(doesn't the bible discourage that?), or resort to stealing. I say we keep it. Expand it. Everyone start donating appropriate things to it...including money and ideas to help these people. Most of them were turned away by mental health facilities that are over filled and have to release the least worrisome of their clientell in order to house the more at-risk individuals. C'mon! Let's do something right for a change!!!

This is directed to the high officials that oppose and seemingly have such derragative words to say about the Lamb Center, you are so wrong take the scales from your eyes, I am a living and well adjusted person that had no choice but to turn to the Lamb Center due to economy and our government, As a good tax paying citizen I fell upon hard times. I did everything that was suggested but was given the run around. By the grace of God I was led to the Lamb Center And Found my way. I am giving you a very short version of my expierence at the Lamb Center and how it works but because of them I am proudly to say I am a proud and most of all a productive citizen again . I pray that you officials that we as the citizens that voted you in will honor the work of the almighty God..... Happy Holidays Toooooo ALLLLLLLLL!!

The Lamb Center is a necessary resource for those who are in need. It exists as an oasis and, as a resident of the City of Fairfax, I am happy to have it "in my back yard." There are other benefits to having the Lamb Center so close - my Girl Scout troop, Boy Scout troop, Church and School all donate generously to the center in the form of meals, supplies, clothing and monetary donations. By doing so, it allows our children to look more globally at the issue of poverty and how they can help. When you drop items into a donation bin, you don't get that same view because it seems removed - when you physically visit the Lamb Center and see the gratitude on the faces of the staff and recipients - it hits home. I pray that this center will be able to continue to operate and assist all who need it.
