This group has been serving the local homeless population for more than 25 years.

Every day this week, Patch is profiling a local nonprofit agency. If there's a nonprofit that you think your neighbors need to know about, email Doug Tallman or Lauren Sausser.

History: "The organization now known as Our Daily Bread began in 1984 as a temporary homeless shelter that rotated among several churches in the area," the organization's website explains. "When Fairfax County opened a shelter in Reston, the interfaith effort shifted its focus to feeding the homeless, opening a soup kitchen staffed by volunteers from the various participating organizations. In 1986, the name 'Our Daily Bread' was chosen, and three years later the organization was incorporated and qualified as a 501C(3) nonprofit organization."

How you can help: Our Daily Bread loves volunteers. If you're interested in organization a food drive, making emergency food deliveries or even helping out around the office, visit the group's website.
