Leaf it to Fairfax

The city has set its guidelines for leaf collection season

Fall in Fairfax City is leaf season and the city has set some guidelines to make leaf collection in the area run smoothly.

During the fall, the city collects leaves from all single-family homes in the city throughout the months of November and December on regular collection days. All leaves are collected by vacuum suction trucks so all leaves must be raked or placed at the curb or street edge.

Bagged or canned leaves will not be collected during leaf season

Items such as limbs, branches and rocks must not be mixed with the leaves as these items damage equipment. Grass clippings and acorns are allowed.

There is also leaf collection in April. For collection of leaves other than dates in April, November and December, leaves must be placed in paper or plastic bags, or trashcans and set at the curb the same as other yard waste for pick-up on regular trash collection day.
