Dela Rosa Appeals Prison Sentence
The woman convicted of murdering her granddaughter was sentenced to 35 years in prison last fall.

Carmela dela Rosa, a Fairfax woman who threw her 2-year-old granddaughter from a 44-foot footbridge at Tysons Corner Center, has appealed her 35-year prison sentence for first-degree murder.
The two-page appeal was filed last month in Fairfax County Circuit Court by public defender Dawn Butorac, who represented dela Rosa during the two-week murder trial last fall.
On Oct. 6, dela Rosa was convicted of first-degree murder. Her defense team argued she was insane at the time of the crime, but the jury found her guilty of killing Angelyn Ogdoc on Nov. 29, 2010. At a January sentencing hearing, dela Rosa was ordered to serve 35 years in prison.
According to the Virginia Department of Corrections online database, dela Rosa is being held at the Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women, in Troy, Va., about 13 miles southeast of Charlottesville.
No court date has been set for the appeal.

I wish we had a rule allowing us to extend her sentence if she appeals. Life in prison in return for murdering her granddaughter sounds more reasonable.

She deserves life in hell and I hope she gets it. Anyone that would kill a baby for revenge or any reason deserves that.
